Matthew S. McCaulley Full Bio
Matthew was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on September 3, 1972, and was admitted to the South Dakota Bar in 1997. He received his B.A. degree from Sioux Falls College in 1994, and enrolled in law school at the University of South Dakota, where he graduated with his law degree in 1997. During law school he began work on his M.B.A. at Sioux Falls College, now known as the University of Sioux Falls, and received his M.B.A. in 2002.
Matthew entered private practice at the law firm of Hynes & McCaulley in 1997 before becoming an associate at Murphy, Goldammer & Prendergast in 2004, and a partner in 2006.
Matthew was elected to the South Dakota House of Representatives in 2001, where he served until 2004. He was the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee his last two years in office, and was a member of the South Dakota Code Commission throughout his entire term in office. In 2006, Matthew added a legislative/lobbying practice to his law practice and will be advising clients and lobbying on matters relative to the South Dakota legislative process.
In 1999, Matthew served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of South Dakota’s School of Law where he taught “Modern Real Estate Transactions”. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Colorado Technical University’s Sioux Falls campus. Matthew’s most recent courses include “Business Law” and “Public Administration”.
Matthew is a member of the Second Circuit Bar Association and the State Bar of South Dakota. His practice areas include election, campaign and political law, legislative law, corporate law, business law, real estate and administrative law.
Matthew is married. He and his wife Heather have three children.
